Ayodele Olugbenga Animashaun is a distinguished entertainment and media executive with over three decades of experience in journalism, content creation, talent development, and high-caliber event production. Renowned for his significant contributions to the Afrobeats culture and urban contemporary music in Africa, he is a prominent Nigerian media entrepreneur.
He the founder and Executive Producer of HipTV, the leading African urban culture platform, Animashaun has made a substantial impact, with the channel reaching audiences in 44 countries across Africa and streaming globally on various digital platforms.
He is also the founder and executive producer of The Headies, Africa’s foremost music awards, which have gained international acclaim over the past three years. The 16th edition of The Headies, held in Atlanta, attracted a global audience of over 70 million people across 89 countries, amassing six billion digital impressions.
In 2020, Animashaun established the AA Foundation to support young creatives throughout Africa. This initiative aims to discover hidden talents and foster a sustainable creative economy, empowering young Africans to transform their innovative ideas into viable products.
A proud Nigerian, Ayo Animashaun serves as the Ambassador at large for media for the African Union 6th Region. He holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration and a PHD (honorary Dr. of Philosophy in Media & Communication). He is a devoted husband, father, and family man.
